Just came across this bad ass AS3 toolkit called FLARToolKit.
“FLARToolkit will detect the marker from an input image and calculate the camera position in the three dimension space” = Augmented Reality!
To sum it up, it allows you to make 3D computer generated objects appear like they are a part of reality.
I originally found out about this technology on the site Boffswana.com. So I did some research, and figured out how to make my own!
To see the 3D model you will need a webcam, and you will need to either print this symbol, or display it on your phone, or on a separate monitor.
Also check out GE’s smartgrid for a better example of this technology.
Doing a bit more with the AS3 Box2D library. I’ve created a virtual Barrel Of Monkeys! Spawn more Monkeys by clicking the Barrel.
Challenge: Create a bridge of Monkeys connection the two orange balls.
I have yet to accomplish this, but I had fun trying. I managed to create a Monkey bridge. Just takes time and patience.
Created a quick “Water” test piece using the AS3 Box2D Library. Start by turning on the Water Flow. Turn on/off the Blur Filter for added effect. Keep it off for better performance, but it looks more like water with it turned on. You can also drop a ball and throw it around with the mouse.
